It's a Korean breakfast of fried egg on rice.  Or a delicious dinner for one. The golden egg yolk coats the plump rice kernels with a buttery-soy sauce. 🤤

What do you need?

* 1 cup cooked white rice * ½ Tbsp unsalted butter * 2 tsp sesame oil * 1 large egg * 1 tsp soy sauce * (optional) toppings

Yay if you have leftover rice ready to go! Reheat the rice until piping hot. Or cook a fresh batch of short-grain rice.

1. Prep your rice

Add butter and sesame oil to a nonstick skillet. Crack your egg into the pan and drizzle with soy sauce.

2. Fry the egg

The egg white is set around the yolk. The edges are crispy. The yolk is still runny.

Slide the fried egg onto your warm rice.  Pour over the buttery soy sauce from the pan.

3. Add the egg

Crush a packet of roasted seaweed over the rice.  And sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds.

Use a spoon to break the runny yolk. Mix everything together, coating the rice in eggy sauce.

You’ll lose out on the yolky goodness.   Save the day by stirring a raw egg yolk into the hot rice.  If that’s your style – it sure is mine.
