Sukiyaki is a Japanese winter dish of meat and vegetables stewed tableside in a mix of dashi broth and sukiyaki sauce (also called warishita).

What is Sukiyaki?

⅔ cup mirin ⅔ cup sake* ⅔ cup soy sauce 2 tablespoons sugar * If you don't have sake, double the mirin and leave the sugar.

Sukiyaki Sauce Ingredients

Place all of the ingredients in a small saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat.

1. Grab a saucepan

Stir until the sugar dissolves.  Remove from the heat and set it aside until needed.

2. Dissolve sugar
